Back to School

It’s that time of year again. Kids are back in school. Unlike past years though, I did not accompany my youngest to school on her first day; she went on the bus. This made me sad because a tradition had ended. Not by her choosing, but by mine. Time to let her fly on her own, navigate the new middle school campus with the help of others, instead of relying on her mother.

It’s like that manuscript that never leaves your computer. At some point, let it go. Send it on its way to the editor of your choosing. Let it experience life on its own and come back and tell you about its journey, like my daughter did that night at the dinner table.

Was it tough? Yes. But we both survived. And so can you. Life has a way of pushing us to let go of things to make us grow and change.
